The Dream Field

The West Rand, on the western side of Gauteng, is massive area that stretches from the Magaliesberg mountain range in the north,
to the N12 in the south, and along the meandering Crocodile River. The region is jam packed with sporting venues,
resorts and other activities, for the adventurer or the seeker of nature’s tranquility.
Less than 45 minutes from Sandton (N1), Pretoria (N14/R28) and Johannesburg, the West Rand’s dream fields are also a mere
corner kick away from international and local airports.

The Field before kick off…

The West Rand’s heritage dates back millions of years and attracts visitors from across far and wide.
The unspoilt wilderness is protected by legislation and carefully managed to preserve both historic and ecological legacies.
The Witwatersrand (Ridge of White Waters) is 1 760m above sea level.
The area’s rain water flows into both the Indian and Atlantic oceans and the area provides the largest inland water system in South Africa.

The Witwatersrand Sequence is a combination of gold bearing quartzite and shale and visitors can share the trials and tribulations of the early
miners by going on a guide tour of two of the oldest gold mines in South Africa, at  Kromdraai and Magaliesburg, South Africa’s gold mines have always
been the backbone of the local economy and most mining activities are centred in Gauteng.
